Breton companies behind Anne Quéméré’s Trans-Pacific Ocean crossing
Bretagne International has supported Breton companies in their international development since 1983. Today to celebrate its 25th birthday, the association decided to encourage a one-of-a-kind Breton project.
Bretagne International is one of the proud sponsors of Anne Quéméré, a Breton sailor who will kite the Pacific Ocean solo, from San Francisco to Tahiti, a distance of more than 7000 kilometres which she hopes to cover in 12 weeks.
This is not the first bold challenge that Anne Queméré has taken. She is the world’s first woman to have completed two solo ocean crossings and without assistance.
In 2002, Anne rowed the Southern Atlantic Ocean alone and without assistance. Two years later, she again challenged the Atlantic Ocean, but this time, by the Northern Route. In 2006, she changed technology. The crossing was propelled by a kite, sailing from New York (USA) to Ouessant (France). This was a world first for the kite traction technology.
« Through her challenge, Anne Quéméré will be the ambassador of the values and dynamism of all Breton companies », says Bernard Angot, President of Bretagne International.
For Bretagne International, this sponsorship also has to be associated with its mission of promoting Breton know-how abroad and convincing foreign investors to set up their business in Bretagne. Earlier this year, the association came to California with 12 Breton IT SMEs to present the Breton expertise in this field to more than a hundred Silicon Valley companies.
