Bretagne is one of the 22 French Regions, on the westernmost part of the country. 3 million inhabitants - 5% of the French population - are living on a territory accounting for 5% of the surface area of France.
Bretagne, as an administrative Région, consists of 4 departments: Côtes d’Armor, Finistère, Ille-et-Vilaine and Morbihan.
Rimmed with 2,730 km of coast, the region has a cultural and architectural heritage of great richness and diversity.
A young Region
24% of Bretons are under 20 years of age.
The percentage of young people aged from 16 to 19 years in full-time education is 89%, as against a national average of 83% and the one of young people aged from 20 to 4 years is 37% as against a national average of 33%.
